"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
2026-02-18: KU 20-6 (10-3)
40 = Wins remaining for Bill to tie Kansas alum and NMBHOF member Adolph Rupp (876-190) on the ATW D1 Men's Coaches list.
64 = Wins remaining for Bill to reach total career win #900
67 = Wins remaining for Bill to tie Roy as THE winningest KANSAS Head Coach for TOTAL CAREER
71 = Wins remaining for Bill to reach KU career win #700
The updated official NCAA KANSAS and CAREER W-L records for Bill Self, Phog Allen and Roy Williams are reflected below.
NCAA WON-LOST RECORDS OF WINNINGEST KANSAS MEN'S BASKETBALL COACHESLINKS and NOTES:
1. Link to NCAA database KANSAS head coaches records
2. The AY2024-25 RCB thread can be found at this link.
3. The above record for Self does not include the 15 wins from AY2017-18 vacated by the NCAA five years later in 2023 for Silvio De Sousa's participation after SDS was retroactively declared ineligible to play in those games because it was determined that De Sousa's American guardian was given $3,000 by an adidas rep (no member of the De Sousa family benefited). The records show the guardian did not want the money, but ended up donating it to a local school when the rep said he could not take the money back. This NCAA overkill came in spite of this same organization (I) giving Cam Newton a pass (when his dad was shopping him around) so Newton could play in - and win - the 2011 College Football championship game and the Heisman Trophy while at Auburn, (II) doing nothing retroactively against UCLA despite all the evidence available today that its program spent 15 years getting benefits from booster Sam Gilbert that would have resulted in severe penalties for the program throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, and (III) failing miserably to penalize The University of North Carolina for the decades long academics "coursework" scam from 1993 to 2011 that tar heels athletes, including those in its famed men's basketball program, used to remain academically eligible to play.
There is a reason the NCAA is called a joke to its face by college sports fans everywhere.

2026-03-12: KU 24-11 (12-6) SEASON FINAL
And the big question as I prepare this is will this be the CAREER FINAL for HCBS?
The common wisdom is that if he is feeling healthy and able to stand up to the stresses of coaching the program, Self will be back next year as he has admitted he still loves what he does for a living.
We shall know soon enough.
In the meantime, here's the numbers at the end of play for AY2025-26.
36 = Wins left for Bill to tie Kansas alum and NMBHOF member Adolph Rupp (876-190) on the ATW D1 Men's Coaches list.
