I took a look at foul numbers and free throw numbers this morning. I saw some garbage on SM bitching about “KU refs” so I took a look.
TL: DR-As has been the case most years, KU is middle of the pack in the conference when it comes to fouls and FTA’s as well as those of opponent’s fouls and FTA’s. The idea of “refs favor KU” is laughable.
I’m only looking at conference games and it’s stupid early to have much meaning, but here are the trends on fouls/free throws from a few different cross sections:

2 Baylor (21)
3 KSU (20.25)
Least fouls/game
1 Tech (11.75)
2 TCU (15.25)
3 KU (17.25)
Most opp fouls/game
1 WVU (25.5)

Least Opp FT attempts/game: 4th
Least fouls as home team/game: 4th
Least fouls as away team/game: 4th (tie w/ ISU and TCU)
Most FTA as home team/game: 4th
Most FTA as away team/game: 9th
Random oddities:
-KU has both the most FTA’s and least FTA’s in a game (OU and @ Tech)
-OU shoots about half as many FT’s as their opponent
-Baylor averages 8.25 more FT attempts/game over their opponents
-KU and ISU are the only teams that are called for about as many fouls as an away team as they are a home team
-KSU is the only team that shoots about the same number of free throws as a home team as they do an away team
I can slice and dice the data a little bit but...
