"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Apparently they were "properly motivated" in the locker room at the half.
It impacts Texas too, but I do think these Saturday/Monday short turnaround things are tough. Then throw in the fact that the local team is in the super bowl on the "rest day" (and won) and it's in no way a shock that they weren't chomping at the bit to face a struggling Texas squad that they already beat once. Like it or not, I'm sure guys came in not-so-rested, and overly confident and needed to get smacked around for 20 minutes to wake up and start playing.
Wound up with 16 points, but only 1 assist to 3 TO's. Not awful when all is said and done.

From what I remember from the first game vs Texas the big lineup was effective. There were not many games that the 2 big lineup was effective but the first game versus Texas it was. I think the other things that have been mentioned probably had more to do with it than the 2 big lineup but I thought I would mention it.

They played some fine defense. Based on Bilas and some things I noticed the refs were letting them play physical.. One take they adjusted to the way the game was being called at the half.
The awful 3pt % for both teams suggests something, maybe tough guarding out front, maybe fatigue, lack of focus ....
