(As I post this i realize that the PTB are in a conference room preparing to mete out punishments/rewards for last nights defense of the realm! Hoping to be very manageable and that we can quickly get on with our season. I certainly plan on commenting either way.)

My take-

A perfect storm. You take a player who has spent, what, at least a full season out of competitive basketball (I believe due to the selfish acts of those he trusted), who has been slow to regain his previous form and who is looking at an ever smaller window of opportunity to prove himself in the field that he has chosen to make his life’s work.
Could have left, maybe should have left, but stayed at his university to play for the team he had chosen to join (while undoubtedly under great pressure from those he trusted to do otherwise).
Mix in a competitive freshman guard who by his own admission is “...just tired of losing.” who at the end of a blowout loss to their instate rival proceeds to pick the lowest of fruit, stealing the ball from his opponent with 3-4 seconds left to head in for an uncontested basket- I’m sure he was thinking dunk. That’s a good measure of disrespect.
Add the anger and frustration Silvio must have felt in that instant at this punk move. Top it off with that anger and frustration, along with great athletic ability, fueling a magnificent defensive recovery and clean block of the rogue shot attempt.
Then, standing over the visitor as if to say “Not in Our house, not in the Phog, not in my house- as long as I have something to do about it!”
I am sure he said something to that effect in not so many words- I couldn’t hear, but neither could the whoever in street clothes who came storming at Silvio and escalated the situation into a minor melee (minor because apparently no one physically injured).
Silvio is surrounded by purple and is pushed to the ground (all he needs now I’d to be injured by these guys)- he gets up to defend himself, he is being attacked and he is reacting. He is pushed and punched to the periphery again as his team mates come to his aid. He briefly picks up a stool, behind his neck, and finally stops just reacting and chooses to let it drop harmlessly behind him. Unfortunately, the meme will be the image of the 1-2 seconds he had that stool in his possession.
Then, order restored. 0.1 sec on clock (??)- shuffle out teams to get free throws done- Vegas spread was 16 so does a 22 vs a 21 point win make any difference? Maybe on the over/under. Don’t know- don’t gamble, but a rules a rule, gotta finish the game! Don’t want to throw out the money with the bath water!
Now K-State and KU will publicly share the blame. Self and KU will be exceedingly and overly contrite. KU has a reputation and we have something to play for, like championships, neither of which seem to be much of a concern at K-State. I’m not so much concerned with reputation as I think we’re as clean as any team and home court defense is to be admired. I am concerned about impact on this team and individual players. I think Silvio should stay, he trusted that KU would eventually get it right and get him eligible to play and we should trust that he will get it right and make KU proud going forward. I suspect a multiple game suspension for him. I suspect no more than a game suspension for any other KU player. I feel some off the K-State bench may face more as seemed to be instigators. I suspect punishments with stay inside the Big 12 and only affect those games- NCAA probably does not want to mess with upcoming weekend SEC/Big 12 shootout.
