If you want to view my updated DPPI, you can find it here -->
DPPI
Duke is starting to separate as the dominant team. But Kansas is a strong 2nd. Michigan St. has been leaving a path of destruction lately and has made it into 3rd. Watch out for Sparty. They are looking very strong as the season progresses. Ohio St. has fallen from a once strong 1st to 4th and they are looking vulnerable of late. The other sleeper team to watch is Arizona. They could very easily end up on the 1 seed line with Duke, Kansas and Sparty. Butler is a defensive dynamo that has been crazily consistent. I have them in 6th. Dayton's weak performance this weekend dropped them to 8th, but the teams are all bunched up and there is not a lot of sunlight between Arizona in 5th and Dayton in 8th. West Virginia improved a fraction but stays in 10th. Gonzaga is ranked 1st in the AP and that is sad. They are not the best team in the country. Their offense is great but their defense is merely okay. The AP voters frustrate me. Oregon is ranked 4th but will surely fall after their loss. I have them in 12th but only 2/100ths of a point behind West Virginia in 10th. Memphis, currently ranked 9th, should also fall after their loss. I have them at 26th. Villanova's loss should drop them a little but not enough. I have them in 36th. I truly believe they are way over rated. Michigan got smashed by Sparty bit that is mostly because Sparty is really good. Michigan is pretty accurately ranked in the mid teens. Louisville's loss should drop them as well, from 7th. I have them at 16th.
Arizona is the biggest underrated team ranked 25th. They are scary good but wildly inconsistent. Kentucky is another very talented team that has been somewhat inconsistent. I have them in 26th. Texas Tech's blowout against Okie St. moved them up but I still have them only 33rd. They will probably be ranked in the teens after tomorrow. I don't see it. But they have had injuries so they may be much improved. Other notable teams are Virginia which is ranked 19th but I have them at 54th. I have considered tweaking my algorithm to more accurately treat lower scoring teams. I think I may penalize them too much. But they are not a top 20 team. Tennessee has really fallen hard and is now in 60th and projected out of the NCAA Tourney. If they used the DPPI only 6 Big 12 teams would make the tourney. Okie St. fell like a rock after their embarrassment by Texas Tech. They are in 57th, falling 20 places. Good ole Roy and his Tar Heels are in 90th. It will take a miracle for them to make the tourney. Heck, if they lose to Pitt, they will probably be ranked as the 14th best team in the ACC (out of 15 teams). I project them to have a losing record. Poor Roy.
If I had to project 1 seeds today, I would say Duke, Kansas, Michigan St. and Arizona. Ohio St. would be close and it is very possible we will have 3 non-power conference teams on the 2 seed line (San Diego St., Gonzaga and Dayton.
