"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Anything is possible, but for me personally, I can't see why anybody would want to be an NBA coach. If I was a college coach as successful as Self and I felt like it was time to go (too much BS from the NCAA, sick of recruiting, or whatever reason) I'd probably rather retire and/or go to work as a TV guy.
Yes, the NCAA can be annoying, but between primadonna players, reporting to a general manager, and playing in front of dispassionate fans, I don't see the attraction. If recruiting is a grind, how about 41 road games per year (not counting the playoffs)? At worst, you're doing maybe 15 road games per year in college, and that leaves another couple dozen recruiting trips before you start traveling as much as an NBA coach.
Again, it's possible and a rumor this persistent would have died long ago if there weren't some validity behind it. I don't get it, but HCBS hasn't asked me for career advice.

That's pretty definitive. Again, anything can happen, but Self's response certainly puts out the little fire that Seth set, and pretty much exposes Seth's "prediction" as "unsupported speculation".
Wonder if Seth will respond. Self's response kind of makes Seth look stupid. The fact that Self admits that he and the Buford are buddies and that neither of them have even ever discussed it, and that he also mentions that he hasn't had contact with Seth in at least 6 months is a hit to Seth's credibility (and well-deserved, IMHO).
