I'm a Dotson fan and haven't ever blamed him for a loss.
However, I'm never in favor of a point guard calling out a player publicly. I don't remember who he did this to early in the game, but afterwards he threw the ball to, Nobody, committed a charge, and I believe he missed a free throw, not a very good example for his fellow player. When we've had point guards who praise or support their teammates no matter what, I believe it creates better bonding.
Any thoughts by my learned co-posters?

I must have missed this, Murph. Who did Dotson call out and when?

I don’t recall when, but I think he was “speaking to” David. I didn’t “rewind” to see what it was.

I’m not 100% sure it was David. I saw devon’s jaws going....he may have had too big of a wad of gum, he may have been saying “great play”, or not. It didn’t concern me enough to rewind, nor to listen to “its ALL about the ACC” Vitale . (I muted my replay of the game, as I watched the Chiefs game live.)

It was during the first few minutes, as I recall. Unfortunately, I was more focused on the fact that he seemed to be chastising a teammate than who was on the receiving end.
This ought to teach me to get all the facts before I start spouting an opinion.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
If a player called out another player in a press conference or to a reporter, that would be bad. Getting in a teammate's grill on the court isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Coaches all like guys who take on leadership roles, as I believe Dotson has. Rather than having to rely on the coach to chew on a guy, if a guy screws up, I think it can be ok for a teammate to call a guy to task. A lot of it depends on how it's done. But if D Mack cut left when he was supposed to cut right, or didn't set a screen that he was supposed to set, I have little concern if the "floor general" takes corrective action.
But I'd have to reply the game and see the specific incident to make a specific judgement on this one.

I noticed a couple instances where Dotson got on other players. However, my recollection is that they occurred after a Dotson turnover, and it seemed to me he was frustrated and blaming others. I may be wrong, but that's what I thought at the time.
It's different than what I remember from Graham, who would really act like a leader and seemed to be bringing his guys up, even when pointing out mistakes. I'm not seeing that from Dotson - yet. Graham was a senior, so Dotson still has plenty of time to learn.

I saw where a local station was replaying the game, so I watched. It was at the beginning of the game and at the end of a shot clock. All I saw was 2 guys on Devon right before he chucked up a miss and the shot clock expired. He said something to David, and I don’t think he was pleased. After the replay, I figured that David got lost, didn’t screen, etc, etc. Not a scholar of the game, so what do I know? And mr ACC and the other talking head didn’t mention it.
To be honest, the replay didn’t look nearly as severe as my first viewing. I did notice that David sat after that.

Hey Murphy, It was the philosopher Frank Burns (from MASH tv show fame) who said: "Individuality is great as long as we all do it together.".
