What's the deal with this last play of the game?

Wonder why the Monmouth player was acting the way he was...which was just very punk-like.

Probably took a look at the scoreboard and got frustrated. Looks like his coach chewed him for it. He was the ONLY guy there who thought it was a brilliant idea.

Watch the post game statement from Monmouth coach. Really professional, dealt head on with that last play, and very cool to hear his take on playing in AFH.

Yes. I thought what the Monmouth coach had to say was very classy and a credit to him and the Integrity of the game.

I will say that I was a little surprised at HCBS's response. He said he had no issue with what took place and that it was no big deal. Maybe he was just trying to take the high road. He did also say that it might have been good for that to happen to Enaruna because the coaches have been on him about being too lax in handling the ball. They're hoping this will teach him a lesson in ball security.

I can see Self not wanting to comment on another program's issue, but taking that stance is not good for the game. Does that mean he would be ok if one of his players would do the same if the tables were turned? Somehow I'm thinking he would jump on the situation and not say it wasn't a big deal.

I thought he was just being polite...letting monmouths coach deal with it his own way. And I’m sure Self would handle it the same way their coach did and would definitely not excuse one of our players. I can’t imagine anyone out there thinks he’s excusing the conduct as something he’d be ok with for his own players.

I can see your point and believe that is likely the case.

Agree. Self was taking the high road. It doesn't help anybody for him to admonish another coach's player, especially when he knows that the coach disapproved. After the kid dunked and got the T, you could see the Monmouth coach chewing the kid out. Kind of like if a kid comes over to visit and spills grape juice on the rug. If the kid's parent apologizes and makes an effort to deal with the kid and do the right thing, what else can you do? You say, "oh don't worry about it" even if you're quietly seething inside that the rug is stained.

I thought I remembered one of our guys doing something a little jack-@zzy a few years back toward the end of the game and Self "correcting" him. In any case, unless there's true animosity in play, no coach is going to condone that stuff and Self knows that Monmouth's Coach will have that kid doing a little extra running as reminder of what he needs to be doing.

Finally, keep in mind that it's entirely possible that one of our guys did something to get under the kid's skin. Lots of jawing goes on out there that we can't hear, and I'm sure some of it is less than friendly.
