Will redshirt, according to the KC Star. I'll just have to imagine all the help he'll be giving the practice team instead of missing his visual presence so much. Last year he was the main reason I kept interest in the 'Hawks.

Whatever is best for him.

Mitch is Mr Jayhawk. I will most definitely miss him this year but am still excited about this season.

I am here and I hear you. On the topic of this post I think it will be good to have Mitch around another year. He will be around this year even though he won't lace em up on game day.

I was at a small hotel this weekend in Oceanside. I have my KU shirt on. There's a knock at the front door as another guest has forgotten his key. I go to open the door - and see he's wearing a Duke shirt. I tell him I can't/won't let him in!

We had a very nice chat, and wished each other luck this week.

It's the right move for Mitch all around. He'll still be a part of this team this year, albeit more in the background. He'll get much more playing time next year, and he'll walk out of KU with a masters degree. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find the bad news here. Aside from not getting to see his exuberance on the court this year, which is always entertaining, it's a great decision by Mitch.

Also, if you're a kid who dreamed his whole life of playing at KU and you got to realize that dream, and taking a redshirt year means that you get to be on the team for 5 instead of 4 years, isn't that a huge bonus? 5 years of living your dream over 4 seems pretty ok.
