And one of them is a real zero...and as fans, we couldn't be happier :)

There are also 6 KU honorable mentions and I would argue that one of them should've taken a top spot.

Great piece!

Which of the honorable mentions would you have placed at the top, Port?

0 #BIFM
13 Wilt
16 Clyde
25 Danny

Honorable Mention
0 TRob
4 Nick, Sherron, Devonté
15 Mario
21 Joel
45 Raef [added thanks to porthawk note that follows]

Port, who would you argue should have been tops for his #?

My choice is actually someone who got no mention at all — 2x AA at #15 Joseph Henry White.

Better known as JoJo.

So I guess it's 7 honorable mentions, b/c Mr. LaFrentz is there and he's the one I would argue should be the top #45. I think he's ahead of Denzel Valentine (no disrespect to Mr. Valentine, of course).

Ah, my bad, I missed Raef.

Raef was never a favorite of mine. I never really felt he had the needed toughness, and I always wanted more defense from him. Even so, his subsequent pro career was a disappointment... and, to be fair, colors my perception to some extent.

Side note: I love how that list is for the most part made up of guys with first names uncommon enough that we can talk about them among ourselves first-name only without confusion about who is being discussed.

From 300 Most Popular American Male Names
9. Joseph, but he was always called Jo Jo
10. Thomas
12. Daniel, but always Danny, which is 101
31. Frank
64. Nicholas, always Nick
133. Joel (different pronunciation)
143. Mario
187. Clyde

Wilt, Sherron, Raef and Devonté aren’t in the top 300.
