I ran across an interesting article on H01.com that picked the best player at every position all-time in the NFL. Lot’s of honorable mentions for the KC Chiefs such as;
QB - Joe Montana (Tom Brady was the best)
LT - Willie Roaf (Anthony Munoz was the best)
C - Mike Webster (Jim Otto was the best)
DT - Buck Buchanan (Merlin Olsen was the best)
OLB - Derrick Thomas (Lawrence Taylor was the best)
MLB - Willie Lanier (Dick Butkus was the best)
PK - Jan Stenerud And Morten Anderson (Adam Viniteri was the best)
Punter - Jerrel Wilson (Ray Guy was the best)
There were two Chiefs picked as the best ever at their positions. These are easy picks. Bobby Bell was the best pound for pound linebacker to ever play the game. I met Booby a number of times as I ate in his BBQ often at 9th and Iowa. He was the most incredible example of an Adonis body I have ever seen. Completely chiseled and virtually no body fat on a very large frame. Plus a super super nice man.
TE - Tony Gonzalez
OLB - Bobby Bell
And for the piece de resistance, the best special teams player ever in the NFL, and it is not close;
The Kansas Comet — Gale Sayers. What an amazing running back and even better return man.
