Phog Allen to be inducted into MVC HOF in March 2020

Or to borrow from the great Bob Uecker, they’e juuuuuuuuuust a bit late in the honor.
Naismith HOF 60 years ago, and just now for the MVC? He only won 8 conference titles, and earned two national titles, in the 11 years he coached KU in the MVC.
Would have been nice if they had done this before he died in 1974.
Still, better late than never... thanks to the apparently brand new MVC HOF Veterans Committee. Otherwise...
He must have really ticked off a bunch of MVC people back in the day. It’s my understanding that the MVC wasn’t happy when the Big 6 schools left to form their own conference, so I reckon it took most of those folks being gone so the new Veterans Committee could step up and finally do the right thing by Phog.
A loooooonnnnngggg overdue honor, but at last... congratulations to the Allen family!
