The Jayhawks are currently ranked 26th and that is where they are likely to finish. The tournament worked out right. The top two teams in the DPPI are Virginia (1) and Texas Tech (2). Michigan St. is No. 4. Only Auburn (10) was sort of an interloper in the Final Four. KU ranked 5th among Big 12 teams. Texas' strong finish in the NIT moved them into 25th, 1 spot ahead of the Jayhawks. No matter how you slice it, en toto, this was a poor year for the Jayhawks. As for the individual players, this might have been a decent year given the adversity and upheaval of injuries and so forth. But for the program as a whole, it was among the worst in decades. But having said that, what a testament that we can rue one of our worst seasons in decades when we finished 26th in the country, made the NCAA, finished 3rd in the Big 12, won a game in the NCAA and were ranked No. 1 in the country at one point in time. Let's hope better times are ahead.
