If KU somehow advances to the Sweet 16, the Committee “gifted” Ole Roy and the Tarholes a game against the Hawks in Kansas City. Even though the Sprint Center is anything but a home game for us, it’s still Kansas City. And I was there in 2013 when we took them down in a March Madness game at Sprint. (I was also on hand viewing the game a year earlier when we beat them in St Louis on the way to a berth in the title game.)
As for UK, if they advance and Iowa State can get past its first two games, the Wildcats would face the Clones in Hilton South - their second favorite venue to play in.
Crazy.
The committee seemingly threw a bone to both KU and ISU, for unknown reasons.
That said, if there were any year you’d think Huckleberry Hound would finally beat his former team, it would be this one.
“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
