It’s called PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
Not Most Valuable Player, which by definition has ties to winning the title (although this same point has been argued in the pros since the dawn of such awards).
Dedric has lead the conference in scoring and rebounding practically all year, averaging a double-double. The last time that happened was Blake Griffin in 2008-09.
Dedric has earned it.
He deserves it.
