If you look at the graph below it breaks out KU's scoring margin by 4 minute segment for the season (average for all games). I am not sure what to make of this but it doesn't look good. Especially the 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd half. We have been outscored in that segment, rather significantly. When you throw in the last 4 minutes of the 1st half it is even worse. The other trend that is alarming is the last 4 minutes of the game. We basically start games like a house afire and then coast for 20 minutes before picking up the pace. Very inconsistent play throughout a game. This is a data set of 21 games now so not meaningless.

Very depressing that these guys don't seem to realize that games at the college level are 40 minutes long.

One question: does the margin indicate a KU lead, or it a positive number no matter who's up?

NotO, The blue bars are the average of scoring differential for each 4 minute period. The red line is the cumulative scoring differential up to that point in the game. We have been outscored on the year in the first 4 minutes and last 4 minutes of the 2nd half and by a good margin (relatively speaking). The ideal for this graph would be a flat line at about 1 or more points. In other words, we consistently outscore the opponent throughout the game, building the lead.
