Huggins team playing at TCU tonight, and my word, the Mountaineers are bad this year.
TCU 48-28 at the half, 65-34 at 15:00 to go, final 98-67.
Press Virginia does not exist this year.
Half court D -
No rim protector with Konate out.
Can’t defend the pick and roll.
Poor 3pt defense.
Fouls are getting called (had 10 in the first 10 minutes of H1, 15 total in H1; WVU did better in H2).
Turnovers are rampant.
Two intentional fouls called.
About the only thing they did well was shoot FTs.
Should be a road win for KU on Saturday.
Will be interesting to see the projections.

I wasn't aware Konate is out. Injured?

Konate has a recurring right knee injury that flared up in mid-December. He was projected to be out for 2-4 weeks then. He has yet to play, and I have yet to learn of any news that he is going to be back anytime soon.
Just did a quick google search to double check and found no new info. Looks like he will be out for Saturday, unless of course Huggins is playing SK’s return close to the vest.

I have an uneasy feeling about this game. On paper, we should have no problem, but "on paper" is meaningless, so I'm going to ignore all the data and follow my gut which tells me:
Konate is out? Maybe, maybe not. If you're going to spring a surprise on KU, he'd be a good one. It would be great if he was still on the bench, but we're dead smack at the end of his expected 2-4 week recuperation period after going down on 12/22.
Cornered animals: WVU is 0-5. If they win out the BEST they could do is win 13 conference games. In short, only the MOST optimistic WVU player or fan thinks that they can get back on track. Nevertheless, a win over KU (and potentially helping to spoil our 15th run in a row) might be the only "consolation prize" that's worth hoping for.
They're due. Before conference play, they were 9-3 and while they weren't beating up on Duke and Michigan State during that time, they were winning their fair share. Note that they're 0-5 start in Big 12 play is also sans-Konate. See where I'm going with this? They're not going to go 0-18 in conference play and they certainly aren't going to go 0-9 at home.
Weather: "Hey, NotOstertag, even WVU has an indoor gym these days, you moron!" Yes they do, but the east coast is supposed to get slammed with crappy weather starting on Friday and running through the weekend. Here's hoping that the flights go as scheduled and that the team bus isn't stuck in a blizzard on game day.
Huggins: As much as I dislike Huggy-ball and generally am not a fan of much of what they do as a team, I actually like Huggins. He's the kind of guy you want on YOUR side and he'd probably be a blast to have a beer with. He's also a very good coach. He'll be VERY aware of our weaknesses and will plan around them.
WVU and road games: Students are all finally back on campus as of this weekend. On a cold, crappy afternoon in Morgantown, having just returned to campus with no homework bogging you down yet, I can't imagine that there's much else to do on Saturday. If it's not a full house, I'd be absolutely shocked.
I would never call a road game in the Big 12 a "trap" game, but this has many of those indicators. On paper, this should be easy. I think in reality it's going to be a very difficult game.

Seems like every time they have played recently, it turns into a difficult game. Here's hoping that this team can build a lead, play strong & smart and not allow the other side even a possibility of coming back.

They are having a train wreck season that they could salvage by beating KU. I expect a rockfight.
