More random thoughts from a cluttered mind...

What a strange team. On paper, it looks like a pretty talented group. On the court, it looks... well... I don't really know what the right word is... dysfunctional maybe?

The pieces just aren't meshing like we are used to. A lot of ball dribbling resulting in... more ball dribbling or ineffective passes. Can this be a side effect of calling a blocking foul on the weave person setting up a screen? Is it that much harder to get open without that?

Vick... What a mix of good and bad! When he is hitting his shot, it is exciting. The problem is that I think he is trying to be "the guy". Some of his shots in the first 4 seconds of the shot clock from deep three with nobody around to get a rebound are absolutely confusing to me. But I genuinely think he is trying to be that guy. The guy who makes the key basket at the key time that brings us back. He just happens to miss those more than he makes them right now.

The defense on this team should be at a much higher level than it is. Specially when Garret is in. Yet lost men are a constant problem. Wide open shots are the norm. Long stretches of poor defense. It makes no sense given the types of players we can run out there.

Dotson gets to the rim with sheer speed. It is a killer that he can't finish a lot of those. We have been spoiled by Frank Mason who seemed to convert on those drives at a very high percentage.


Shooting woes, defensive lapses, and some of our passes are either absurd or without purpose. If this keeps up or even is only partially corrected, it will be a long season.

I keep waiting for things to correct, but they haven't. If you look at it, we really have not progressed much at all so far. A lot of work to do and we are running out of time.
