Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
Through games of yesterday, there are now 17 remaining undefeated teams (at least teams with at least 4 D-1 games completed). Only 2 of these teams have schedules in the top 100 (KU at No. 2 SOS and Gonzaga at No. 89 SOS). Any bets on who will be the last remaining undefeated team?
THE CONTENDERS
Texas Tech - Has Duke on Dec 20th, other than that no real threat until Big 12 play on Jan 2nd.
Gonzaga - Has a tough Creighton this Saturday and Washington the following Wednesday. Then back to back top 25 with Tennessee on Dec 9th and North Carolina on Dec 11th. If they survive all this they deserve to be No. 1
MIchigan - has No. 19 Purdue this Saturday. After that, they don't play another ranked team (Wisconsin) until Jan 19th.
Kansas - Really only Arizona St. (currently KU is a 2.3 point favorite and 59% probability of winning) on Dec 22nd. But we also have a Villanova team on 15th, although we should be a heavy favorite.
Nevada - Has USC this Saturday and Arizona St. on Dec 7th. They also have a deceptively good Utah St. on Jan 2nd. Nevada currently has zero currently ranked teams on their schedule the rest of the season.
San Francisco - Has no real formidable teams until Gonzaga on Jan 12th. Could this team really be the last remaining undefeated team?
Arizona St. - No. 5 Nevada on Dec 7th and Kansas on Dec 22nd. Oregon (ranked 18th) is the only top 25 team on their schedule the rest of the season and the Pac 12 isn't exactly a tough conference. .
Virginia - Back to back top 25 victories against Wisconsin and Maryland. Not much until murderers row of ACC teams starting Jan 5th.
Kansas St. - Marquette this Saturday. Then nothing until Texas and the Big 12 schedule on Jan 2nd. The purps have a shot at being the last undefeated team thanks largely to a soft schedule.
Buffalo - Syracuse on Dec 18th and Marquette on Dec 22nd. They also have a shot to be the last undefeated team but are they really that good?
Belmont - They have a very good Samford team this Saturday. Then UCLA on Dec 15th and Purdue on Dec 29th. This one is a longshot at best.
Iowa - No way? Wisconsin this Saturday followed by Michigan St. then Iowa St. They could lose all three but they will not win all three.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
We have a very good chance of making it through December without a loss. Wouldn't kill us to drop one, but we should be favored every game. Whatever else happens isn't anything we can control.
I mentioned elsewhere that I'm very interested in seeing KSU vs. Marquette. KSU is supposed to be one of the few teams with a chance to derail our conference championship streak (trying REALLY hard not to take it for granted). It'll be good to see how they stack up against a common opponent who is also a pretty good team.
