I am not a Vitale hater although I do not particularly like the way he calls game. But last night he said something that, while some might say it is arguable, I do not believe it is. He said during the Michigan shellacking of UNC that there are 3 clear conferences that are head and shoulders above the rest and they are the Big 10, the SEC and the ACC. My DPPI currently ranks the Big 10 as the best but right on their heels is the Big 12 and right on the heels of the Big 12 is the ACC. The SEC is indeed in 4th place but substantially back. Actually, it is not even close. There are, indeed 3 dominate conferences but they are the Big 10, the Big 12 and the ACC. Lest you question my DPPI, the composite of the 27 computer ratings has the same result. In fact, the composite has the race between the Big 10 and the Big 12 much closer than I have it in my DPPI. Look at my table below and you will see the average ranking of the Big 10 and Big 12 at 35.1 and 47.3 respectively. The composite has it at 38.81 and 42.93.
