Grimes did not have a good game statistically. In fact, it was pretty dismal. But as luck would have it, he was the most critical player in terms of +/-. The Jayhawks outscored the Rajun Cajuns by 1.62 more points per minute when he was in the game than when he was on the bench. McCormack also had an outstanding delta of 0.90. Vick, Azubuike and Moore also had positive deltas. Dedric Lawson had a negative delta meaning the Jayhawks did better when he was on the bench in terms of outscoring the opponents. In the 8.4 minutes that Grimes was on the bench, the Jayhawks were outscored by 8 points. I guess I need to rewatch the game to see what he did that made the team so much more effective. With Grimes in the game, the Cajuns scored 1.68 points per minute. Compare that to Marcus Garrett. When Marcus was in, the Cajuns scored 2.26 points per minute. Over 40 minutes that difference would be 23 more points. McCormack was even better. When he was in, the Cajuns only scored 1.4 points per minute.
