Suppose you give the No. 1 ranked team 25 points, the No. 2 team 24 points all the way to the 25th ranked team receiving 1 point. Then you sum all the polls since the 2004 season, Self's first at Kansas. Where do you think KU ranks in that time frame. The answer is a very strongly solid 2nd place. Duke has dominated the polls and credit where credit is due. They have appeared in 284 of the 288 polls since the beginning of the 2004 season. That is pretty amazing. Not only that but they have an average position in those polls of 6.1. Kansas has appeared in 266 of the 288 polls and has an average position of 6.8. By contrast, North Carolina (3rd) has appeared in 244 of the 288 polls and has an average position of 8.6 and Kentucky (4th) has appeared in 207 polls with an average rank of 8.4.
