ESPN+...what's the deal here?

In years past, the Watch ESPN app has carried games not on one of the "normal" ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN8 "The Ocho" ;) , etc.). This year it looks like Watch ESPN will only carry games on the broadcast networks, and that if you want to see Jayhawk TV games out-of-market, you need to pay $4.99/mo for the streaming app.

This will enable you to see 6 games: Emporia State*, Washburn*, Louisiana, Wofford, South Dakota, and Eastern MIchigan.
*Exhibition

All of these games take place before December, so if you cancel after the last game, you're out 10 bucks. This works out to $1.66 per game if you count the exhibition games.

I was home the evening of Late Night and it was supposedly broadcast as well. I say "supposedly'" because I actually signed up for ESPN+ to watch Late Night but it never worked on my phone, so I cancelled my subscription. This, and a history of ESPN not having great service on some of their more esoteric offerings (I once bought the college basketball cable package and they gave me hockey for about 3 days before they were able to fix it), has me wondering if it's worth trying this. It's not the money, but the frustration of it NOT working as advertised is a factor.

Has anybody been using ESPN+ for anything else? Does it work well? Are games archived so you can watch them later? As of this morning, I can't even find a broadcast schedule for them, so I have my doubts.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ tonight. I signed up a couple weeks ago and I just found this game. I looked at a listing several days ago and could not find it. I am just getting acquainted with ESPN+. It will be worth the money I paid just to watch the 2 exhibition games.

Feed started out well, but it's pretty bad now, with about 5 minutes to go in the half. I had to close the browser window and restart before, looks like I may need to do it again. Not sure I'm going to pay the $5/month for a signal this bad.

My sound and feed have been good. Dedric has to have a new nickname...Smooth. The dude just glides so smoothly. Very impressive. Self said he didn’t thought he played super well but OMG, this kid is some kind of special.

I was only able to watch the second half, but the feed was good. No complaints here.

Just a reminder — or a first notice for those who don’t know — when ESPN brought ESPN+ online they also set it up so that paying for ESPN+ also makes you an ESPNInsider. You won’t get ESPN The Magazine (which never really impressed me), but you have access to everything on ESPN.com, including all their recruiting info.

Just something to factor into your keep or drop decision.

AT&T evidently didn't know there was such a channel as ESPN+. I listened on the radio, which wasn't much fun when there are so many new players. Exhibitions are when I can begin to recognize the new guys. Thanks for everything posted about the game.

I have the Insider package which gives me ESPN plus , their Magazine and some other online content. It worked fine last night.
During a couple football games it seemed not to work as well.

Still not impressed. I missed most of the game live due to another engagement, but got home with about 5 minutes left. Opened the app and could see the game in the preview window, but when I tried to open it to get it full size, it got stuck loading. Tried 3 times and by then the game was ending so I decided to watch the whole thing on replay later, which appears to be working.

I'm going to hang with it through the games in December, so my investment is only going to be $10, but I'm totally unimpressed with it so far.

I subscribed to it last night - watched it for awhile on the laptop. Some latency, but not horrible.

Once my wife's show was over, added the ESPN app to my Roku TV - set-up/activation was a snap. After I logged in, was able to rewind back to where I left off and zero issues.

Audio was not same as a regular game, but was still great watching them...as sloppy as they were, still some moments that have me thinking there are gonna be some great highlights.

I signed up for KU's first Football game via my iPhone and it worked like a champ streaming it to my Apple TV...the ESPN app built into the Apple TV would not work. Seems I had to link the iPhone subscription to my ESPN account, then use that as my authorized user account to get my streaming boxes to work with the same subscription. I had to call ESPN+ tech support to get help. The tech spent 20 minutes trying to get it to work on my Apple TV until he realized it only works on Gen 4 ATV (I have Gen 3). So I switched to my Roku boxes. Once I got those set up (One upstairs, one downstairs) everything has worked like a champ. No audio or video issues, but that may be because I have a relatively fast cable internet service (~100 mbps).

This seems to be SOP for ESPN. I've had issues with every new product they've launched that eventually get worked out. This is surprising because anybody I know that works around the internet knows that they need to test any new website on a variety of browsers (chrome, internet expolorer, firefox, safari, etc.) as well as all of the prominent mobile systems.

The fact that you have a Gen 3 Apple TV shouldn't be an issue for a competent team. I'm sure you're not the only college sports fan who has a Gen 3 Apple TV, so it's kind of surprising that ESPN didn't bother to make it compatible. Granted, if you had some kind of homebrew radio-shack device that you built out of spare parts so that you could pirate Netflix onto an 1974 Zenith Console TV (the kind with a record player built in), I'd understand (and be impressed). But c'mon ESPN.

Oh well, I'll be tuning in Thursday and know that I'll need to have backup options ready to go just in case.

Anyone know how to get rid of the pause icon in the middle of the screen on ESPN+?
