I think it is safe to say we may never see a stat like this again. Devonte's season delta is 0.7. As a reminder, that is the difference in how the team performs with devonte' in the game versus on the bench in points per minutes scoring differential. In this case, the Jayhawks were actually outscored with Devonte' on the bench for the season by 37 points or 0.42 points per minute. When he was in the game the Jayhawks outscored the opponent by 0.28 points per minute. Earlier in the season this was close to 1.0. Still, a 0.7 delta is incredible. Last season Mason led the team at 0.3. This was the singular weakness of this team most of the season, namely the fact that we had no one to effectively back up Devonte'. As for the Jayhawks offense it was incredibly balanced with all 8 key players very close and all starters essentially tied. You can see defense was also fairly close but Vick and Newman lagged a little as did Lightfoot. As for delta, Mykailiuk and Azubuike were the other two players with significant deltas.

One thing to note, with Malik announcing he is leaving, we will be losing 52% of our minutes. If Vick leaves as well we will be losing 68% of our minutes. Talk about rebuilding!!

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

If there ever was a transition that could be called reloading instead of rebuilding, the period from last season to next would be it.

With the Lawsons and Moore ready to step into on-court leadership roles after their redshirt years, and one of the top 5 (possibly top 2 if Langford chooses KU) recruiting classes this year — maybe the greatest ever in KU history but for the 1955 class — next year will be a grand disappointment if KU does not win its 15th straight Big XII title and make its 16th Final Four.
