Villanova is a great team.

So balanced. So solid on both ends of the floor. So well-coached.

They wound up beating Michigan by a point more than they beat KU, which is just a tiny bit of solace (proving they are every bit as good as they seemed). And if they had hit their open looks early on like they did against us, they would've won by 35.

Weird fact:

* Self and KU are 9-0 against the traditional powerhouse blueblood programs recently, with 3-game winning streaks against UK, Duke, and UNC, respectively.

* And yet, Self and KU are 1-4 against Wright and Nova since Self took over, including two of the worst blowout losses I've ever seen a KU team suffer (Saturday's game and that horrific KU performance in Philly on a snowy Saturday many moons ago).

Wright and Nova are on top of their game, and aren't going anywhere. Clearly Jay has figured things out, and hit his stride now, after many disappointments before that. KU and Self need to figure them out and commence to righting the ship against them, starting this next season, when we begin a head-to-head series with them (in Lawrence, this year).

Much more to say, but I'll leave it at that. The best team (clearly) in college hoops this year won it all.

Slight correction - HCBS is 2-4 against Nova, we beat them in Lawrence after the Philly debacle and ‘08.

Correction to your correction:

The only time we have beaten them in the Self era was in '08, in Lawrence. Self and KU are 1-4 against Wright and Nova.

Actually, I counted the KU win in '03-'04 as a Roy win. My bad. You are correct, sir! 2-4. But still pales compared with the other bluebloods.

Konza - thanks for the correction. I agree, NOVA and Mich St have given HcBS the most heartburn. He is 5-9 against Wright and Izzo.

He's doing slightly better against Sparty:

According to this, he and we are 3-4 against Izzo and MSU since Self took over.
