The Notre Dame women's basketball team won the national championship yesterday. Huge accomplishment, of course, but it's how it all went down that's so amazing.
Notre Dame's Arike Ogunbowale hit a game winner at the buzzer (essentially) to take down undefeated UConn in the Final Four. (This is the 2nd year in a row that an undefeated UConn team lost in the national semifinal game.) Then, to play her own game of "Can You Top This," she hit the game winner (at the buzzer) in the National Championship game against Mississippi St.
So awesome. I got chills when the she hit the shots.
Here's the video of her shot taking down UConn:
And here's the video of her shot in the championship game against Mississippi St:
This video is the last ~90 seconds of action against Miss St with Notre Dame down 5. Lots of interesting events went on in the last 30 or so seconds. (It's edited so it's all action with no stoppages of play.)
I was running a bunch of errands and remembered that the game was on. Turned it on with 3 sec to go. Absolutely amazed at the final shot. Watched the ND-UCONN game as well. Never seen anything like this. Topped last year and I thought that was "untoppable"
