I’ll say it again.. at the end of the regular season, I predicted 0-2 in the post season and any win would be gravy. Well, we went 7-1 and lost just in time....before I drowned in gravy. Lol

LS,
I felt much like you but about the entire season. At the beginning of the season, I try to access the teams ceiling and hope we can attain it. This year it was to win the Big 12 conference championship, attain at least a 2 seed and make it back to the Elite 8. After we fell a couple games behind in conference, I was doubting any of my expectations would occur. Yet, they did it! Conference championship, tourney champs (gravy-especially after Dok was injured), Elite 8, Final 4 (gravy). Beating both Duke and Kentucky (gravy). It was a great season, and I too was swimming in gravy.
We caught some breaks. Tech was in the driver's seat for the conference champion until the Keenan Evans injury. Silvio qualifying at mid-season was also huge, after the painful loss of Billy. Very thankful to keep the streak alive and to make it to the Final Four.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
This was a rebuilding year. We had a pile of redshirted transfers who wouldn't see minute this year. Things were lean going in, and were leaner still after the Preston incident.
Then we won the conference. And the conference tournament. Then we went to the Final Four. We also beat MIssouri in an exhibition game, beat Kentucky, Syaracuse, and Duke.
We eventually lost to the team that will probably win the Tournament, and will certainly finish up ranked in the top half of the top 5 teams in the country.

I love, love, love: "This was a rebuilding year."
In looking back and now that we are home and done for 17-18, I'll now confess to being such a "Wet Blanket Wheatie" about this team. Although I don't recall for sure, I believe I predicted we'd NOT win 30 games and that we'd bow out in the Elite 8. I was terrified that we'd not get 14 straight.
Golly, I LOVE being such a boob!!!! Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! And I could NOT be happier.....well, maybe if we'd still be on our win streak tomorrow morning.
Regardless, these kids are special. The mom unit would lecture me continuously during the season, to keep the faith. She'd sit and watch the "debacles" and couldn't wait for the next game. I always recorded them but I can't take carnage. I'm a maroon.
And remember: "This was a rebuilding year." I'm a believer!
