He was so emotional when he walked to the sideline and embraced HCBS. It almost seemed like he wanted to sustain the embrace even longer. You really have to feel for the kid. He gave his heart and soul to KU.
As for the team overall, agree with most of the sentiments on the board. The loss really stings now, as the last loss of each season always does (unless you win the whole thing)...but the fact that we made the Final 4 and it was with this team (s non-vintage KU team) in particular, there's not a lot to complain about. Obviously I would have liked a more competitive game, but Villanova played extremely well. This KU team truly had an amazing season and wound up overachieving...to most fans' delight!
Even thought they are on hot streak right now,I think Michigan might be in for a rude awakening against Villanova on Monday. So far, the best seed Michigan has beaten is a 6. They've played a 14, 6, 7, 9, 11 and now face a #1 in Villanova.
I do hope Villanova beats Michigan on Monday night because then we can say we lost to the national champs. Also, like I said earlier, the Villanova group (including Wright) seem like a solid group of guys. Wright appears to be on the up and up and runs a good program. I know they seem to have a number, but it should just make HCBS and the players want to work harder to beat them.
