The last time we played Nova, they were so aggressive on their D that they were taking the pass/handoff in the weave from us. I expect to see more of the same.
I expect we will switch out front and that will keep Nova from driving in the lane as much as we can, but it will require that we have strong hedges from time to time to turn the offensive player away from their favored drive. This could leave a back door pass open and make Dok vulnerable against more mobile players. On top of which, Dok will have to come out to defend a good three point shooter or we will get torched from deep.
Part of their offense, I believe, will be to get a favorable switch on Brunson so that he can then post up our players. This will be tough to guard against, but in doing so we cannot foul. We are too thin to give fouls early in the game.
Look for Nova to try to drive off the switches in order to get Graham or Dok in foul trouble. Specially early in the game and at the beginning of the second half.
Nova is a very efficient team.

"Villanova scores 127.3 points per 100 possessions. That's not just the best rate in college basketball this season; it's nearly five points per 100 possessions better than the second-place team, Purdue.
In fact, it's the second-best offensive efficiency rating since the web site KenPom.com began tracking efficiency numbers in the 2001-02 season."
This means that we cannot have empty possessions. We have to be efficient on offense. I said this at the beginning of the year and this game it is even more important. KU has to be efficient on offense. Nova’s offense is too efficient to get in a hole on and their defense is good enough to contain runs. We cannot have empty possessions.

Some great analysis! I concur, and am a bit fearful of the need for limited "empty possessions." It would be really easy to get sped up in a FF atmosphere resulting in those empty possessions due to errant passes, mishandling of the ball, or launching shots too quickly. We have been known to do all of those things. I would have a hard time thinking we could win with as many TO's as we committed against Duke, unless there is another facet where we can shine, such as in rebounding.
My other concern is that there are those who in the media are beginning to jump onto the Jayhawk bandwagon, giving them the nod. As much as I like to hear that, I kind of the like the underdog mentality, like we saw with Duke.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
My biggest annoyance with the FF is the venues. These football stadiums are lousy for basketball. I really believe that such large venues mess with some shooters' depth perception and throws in an element of randomness that randomly favors whichever shooters can adapt most easily. Suffice it to say I hope our guys get lots of time to get used to the place.
I also don't like the elevated court with guys sitting below it. I don't think that has as MUCH of an impact, but I do think it has some.
