konza63, following up on your noting their behavior, especially Konate's, and why they don't get T'd for it more often -- especially when all Dok has to do is glare at a guy the wrong way and he gets T'd up.

And what is this with the refs giving warnings during the game?
Especially a second one with no T?

Refs know what these wanna be nasty boys are like, and should warn both teams before the game that such stuff will NOT be tolerated and WILL be T'd -- and then T the perpetrators at the first instance to show them the refs mean business.

Oh, but that would emasculate WVU's thug ball.

Konate yelling at fans in the stands now... "Go F yourself," he said repeatedly. "Shut the F up, B," he added. Not a great look for him or WVU. #KUbball leads 77-70 with 51.2 seconds to play.

Bully boy can't take it when he gets his stuff thrown back in his face.

But hey, Thuggins is a future HoF coach whose players graduate, and...
What's that?
Cincy let him go in part because his players *weren't* graduating, and it was affecting the standing of their athletics programs?
Really?
No...
Any articles on that from mainstream media outlets such as the Cincinnati Enquirer?
Just curious...

Yep, I'm a pretty good lip reader and I saw this nonsense multiple times. I also saw him shoulder-bump Silvio at the half and then, when Silvio pushed him off, Konate acted all innocent to the ref, who SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE MONITOR AND CALLED A FLAGRANT to be imposed at the start of H2. Miles also did the shoulder bumps frequently. They tried to mask it away from the refs, but it was constant. Much like Bridges (Michigan State) tried to do against us in the tourney last year.

It made the victory last night all the sweeter, knowing just how badly WVU wanted this, how dirty they were in trying to intimidate us, how disgusting they were toward the fans, and how resilient and tough and gritty our guys were in response. I can GUARANTEE you that Self's pumping of both fists in the air at the end (several times), which is highly anomalous for him (you get that in really juiced, big games like the last Misery affair at Allen) was due in part to the nastiness of WVU and how proud he was of his guys in responding to their street fight challenge.

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

Silvio loved it. After the game, he said he was a pretty good trash talker himself and kept trying to distract Konate with it. After the game, Silvio said they shook hands and congratulated each other. Silvio is showing in more ways than one that he is a big boy. No whining, just 8-for-8 and a bunch of boards, not including ones he tipped to others. He's growing up in all ways. Just the toughness that Self wants, Self's Illinois teams were also tough and had a bit of a chip on their shoulders. That's what Self wants. Self didn't complain to the refs about Konate; instead he told Silvio he was too soft and to go out there and take him.

I saw every bit of what is mentioned above, but also just laughed at him at one point. He was on the deep block for a freethrow, and started yelling at the ref to "make him stop, make him stop". He was arguing that Silvio was pushing him.

The ref seemed annoyed with Kanate and didn't do a thing.

We have our new Marcus Smart, just with a different gag.

Have to agree that Konate is a bit childish in his antics. Being Billy Bad A$$ does not include whining to the refs, taking ridiculous flops and yelling at fans. If you want to talk trash and primal yell after every slam, be my guest. But please don’t whimper around when you get man handled. Make no mistake, Silvio DeSousa punked(thank you HCBS) for most of that game. Not only that, as has been pointed out by mtn, Silvio ate it up. I am not sure what Konate’s future plans are but if he comes back next year, I know one Jayhawk who can’t wait to face him again. Like it or not trash talk is part of this game. We have had a few “speakers of the refuse” wearing crimson and blue as well. Fortunately they kept their comments mainly focused at other players and not fans in the stands. BTW...the Antlers don’t count as fans

Secondly, I also strongly agree with HEs comments on the “glare” technical. Unless Big 12 refs have been given special training on reading minds I am not sure how they T players up for a look. If the guy spouts filth (yeah right...happens way too much IMHO), makes derogatory comments, stands over someone on the floor (thanks Miami...I know its a “U” thing) or in general acts a fool, then by all means T away. But to T a kid up for a mean look? I’ll even go along with the Josh Jackson example of “the kid has a history”. Doke never played a Big 12 game last year! Where was the “history”? Horrible double standard I thought.
