The emergence of DeSousa as a prime-time player and Newman as our top scorer is the perfect one/two punch headed into the Dance. All season I've been waiting for Newman to catch fire (I knew he had it in him) and I pray the fuego continues into the tournament. Frankly, I didn't know if DeSousa would have enough time to make a real difference for us, but he not only looks like a solid replacement for Dok but capable of giving us two bigs in the line up if the need presents itself. Foul trouble in the front court is no longer going to debilitate us. Now, if we can have Dok back at 100% for the tournament, I really like our chances for a good run in the tournament, particularly with our first two games in Wichita. Two weeks ago I thought it was silly and unfair to have us as a one seed but the Hawks have proven they deserve it. Rock Chalk!
One added thought. DeSousa is extremely impressive. A few months ago he was playing high school ball and he's already gotten into the flow of tournament time NCAA basketball. The kid is already our best rebounder and is going to be a total stud for us. Next year we are going to be SO LOADED in the front court!
