"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
KANSAS v. OU
FG% 61% (39-64) v 46% (30-65)
3P% 55% (16-29) v 26% (5-19)
FT% 91% (10-11) v 69% (9-13)
REB 38 v 25
BLK 6 v 2
STL 9 v 3
TO 11 v 11
PF 14 v 12
One of the few times all year KU outrebounded an opponent, and did it in dominating fashion.
10 of the 38 REB were OREB -- that's 40% of their misses (10 OREB from 25 missed FGA).
The FG% was great, as was the 3P% (but remember treys are fools gold per HCBS).
But LOOK at that FT %! The only miss was Dok's.
But aside from that, Dok was a game changer when he was in, blocking shots, altering shots, defending well and dunking like the Nigerian Nightmare we hoped he would be!
Mitch was a shot blocking fanatic in H1.
As already noted elsewhere, this was a 13 minute, 10 point, 6 rebound (with just 1 TO and 2 PF) breakout game for Silvio.
The three together gave KU 24 PTs, 14 REB, 6 BLKS and just 4 TOs in 38 minutes.
(James Sosinski played the last 2 minutes at the 5.)
Newman seemed to be on fire on both ends of the court - yes!
So was Vick, hustle, hustle young man.
Svi and Devonté found their shooting touches again!
Keep it all going strong for Tech on Saturday, Jayhawks!
Rock Chalk Dominate!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Very impressive, to say the least.
Let's hope they've found the elixir and their "extra gear," for the team that played last night (including everyone off the bench) was a juggernaut.
I, too, could point out positives about every single player, but one guy I want to say something about is Malik Newman. Last night was the night he showed what all the hype was about coming out of high school. His overall game, but in particular those beautiful step-back moves and makes (15-footer and a pretty 3) were utterly ridiculous. The stuff that only a star player makes.
His evolution has been really impressive, and looks now like it was just a natural progression of a kid who was playing his first year with a team (in actual games) and eventually the two (team and player) reached a smooth comfort level.
Onward and upward. Gotta beat Tech Saturday...
