Playing very well against OU! Yes!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

He gave us fantastic minutes. And with that, he'll earn more based on greater confidence from HCBS. Way to go, kid!

This is a FANTASTIC line for a kid who made the jump from HS to college ball just 56 days ago!

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Couldn't happen at a better time. Good to have a 3rd option if both Dok and Lightfoot get in foul trouble.
One game doesn't constitute a "trend" in my opinion, and he still looks a little lost at times. Nevertheless he's a lot "less lost" than before, and often when he screws up, he's at least trying to do the right thing.
The pilot light is on.

With Silvio, since the rotation is set and he typically goes in when the other two are in foul trouble or need a breather, you're basically just looking for him to "Do No Harm" when it's necessary for him to go in. Just defend, box out, rebound, screen, and take up space.
So when you get a game and effort like last night, it's the ultimate bonus. It was a little bit like Cole Aldrich's breakout game in the NC tourney run against UNC, although obviously the stakes there were so much higher and he went off against the venerable Tyler Hansbrough. It was so special in both instances because no one saw it coming.
Keep it up, young man. Practice is obviously paying off. Speaking of which, you can understand how the kid is going to get better going up against not only Dok and Mitch in practice, but also against Dedric Lawson, who isn't exactly chopped liver. Combine that daily interaction with the skill of our staff, and he'll make good strides. He won't be a pivotal piece in the Dance, but he could give us important contributions - even if just "doing no harm" - in certain sequences. Anything beyond that is the cherry on top until next year, when he'll break out into his own.

I'll be interested to see the player ratings on that. In the past, we definitely nose dived when he was on the floor. Don't think that's the case last night. Hoping that the numbers back up the "do no harm" concept.

Matt Tait with a good piece on Silvio. Sounds like a great young man. The part about him showing enthusiasm on the bench is the sign of a kid wise beyond his years. Coaches love that, and he did it to retain self-confidence to boot.
