In a recent article after the WVU game Ken Pomeroy is quoted regarding KU: “They are good at drawing fouls everywhere, but they do have an advantage at home,” Pomeroy said. “I have a model that measures a team’s home court advantage and it says that KU has had the 38th best home foul advantage in recent seasons. So they do get a favorable whistle, but not necessarily the best in the country.”

So who are the Top 40, and how many are Big 12 teams?
I read one comment to the article that said ISU actually had a better home foul advantage.

Link to article.

FAKE NEWS!!!!!  :P ;)

Seriously, this is very interesting stuff HE. Also, it doesn't bode well for Saturday. Good thing Mitch is playing five stars above his pay grade and DeSouza is blossoming just in time,

Regarding Saturday, keep in mind that:

(1) asteroid's and CorpusJayhawk's models incorporate "home court advantage" into their projections, and after what I saw last iteration, the game should be close to a toss up when their newest projections are published -- and even more in our favor if both Keenan Evans and Zach Smith are still out.

(2) The team seems to be (hopefully) building to a season ending peak now. We can't reasonably expect another game like the OU game -- Tech is one of the best defensive teams in the country, and IIRC the best in conference -- but the D&Svi groove finding, return of the head lost Malik and LV, the rise in skill of the Nigerian Nightmare and -- as you noted -- the continued solid play of Mitch and what looks to be the emergence of Silvio as a contributor after just 57 days (as I write this) as a Jayhawk bodes well for Saturday's game.

(3) Final point: In his KU career to date, no team -- NONE, NIL, NADA Bill Self KU team -- has EVER been swept in Big 12 conference play. Combined with everything else, this bodes well for Saturday.

Keepin' the faith, Brother Bay!

ROCK CHALK!

HE,
What are the numbers behind the top list rankings? Is it winning percentage or average scoring margin?
If it is winning percentage, I'd think the Jayhawks would be higher up the list.

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have a subscription so I don't know for certain. I got the rankings listed above from a couple of posts on JayhawkSlant by folks who are subscribers.

Now, judging from the sample pages kenpom uses to show prospective subscribers the kind of content they would be paying for, it looks like the rankings are based on the number of additional points a team can expect from playing at home. Here's a snip from there:
Section of a page for Alabama-Birmingham, see yellow highlighting in BRH corner.
