Wilt had 50 points and the S.F. Warriors won in overtime. (spoiler alert)

Of note: (besides the 50! points), Chronicle photographer Joe Rosenthal was assigned to the game. You'll remember him as the photog who took the immortal "Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima" photo.

Quote of interest: "Wilt Chamberlain, the Willie Mays of basketball . . ."

And get this!: "The Warriors struggled financially in San Francisco, and moved to Oakland in the early '70s. They played their 1975 championship games at the Cow Palace, only because they were bumped from the Oakland Coliseum Arena by the Ice Follies."

I was a sophomore in college then with no money to speak of. But what if I had used a student loan to by Warriors Stock? I wouldn't be working now!!
