I have often wondered where some of your screen names came from. If any of you are willing to share I (and I imagine others) are interested. I will begin. I lived in Corpus Christi, TX from 1991-1999. So when I found the RCB I used the name CorpusJayhawk and it has stuck for 20+ years.

Not much to figure out here . . . ;)

Other poster's monikers would be of interest though,

Nice post, Corpus.

Mine is pretty simple -- it's a portmanteau of Portnoy* (my last name) and Jayhawk.

*And no, I don't have any complaints. :)

I think I have previously explained the genesis of LKF_HAWK, but I always like the story. In the mid oughts I was living in Hong Kong/Asia. It Central Hong Kong there is an area called LAN KWAI FONG (LKF) where I would meet fellow Hawks to watch KU games at a Canadian Sports Bar called KEG. I don’t know if the bar still exists.

I am proud to be a Kansan by birth. After a bunch of considerations involving sunflowers, buffaloes, etc, etc. I landed on Wheatstate Gal.

Thank goodness as I MUCH PREFER my nickname “Wheaty” to sunny or Buffy!!!!! :-D

Mines not too hard either. I took guidance from some of the other names and took rainyhawk as I live in the Seattle area now. Good topic though Corpus!

My wife attended KU and always liked the Replay Lounge. So I thought that would be a cool name and thus I've been replayloungehawk for quite some time. I don't honestly know how long though. HAHA

Mine is an homage to the first computer I got my hands on some 40 years ago - a General Electric 635 mainframe located behind cinderblock walls in Summerfield Hall. At the time I had a job putting together farm equipment for a IH dealership. I went home to Garden City over spring break and started searching for any business in town that had a computer. Turned out the bank had one and the person in charge agreed to talk to me. About 15 minutes into our conversation he picked up the phone and called Douglas County State Bank in Lawrence to arrange an interview. I got the job which wound up paying for college plus enough experience to get my hired by NCR right after I graduated. Been making my living developing software ever since. PS - I missed the bombing of Summerfield and the GE 635 by two hours.

"hoshi" is Japanese for Star. I have 18 trips to Japan where I am nicknamed Hoshi. My last name is Italian for Star. Now your turn to figure out my last name.

Another portmanteau.

Career Army, essentially a modern day “knight errant” going where needed.

I rode at a horse farm in Leavenworth as a kid and the thoroughbred stallion they had was named "Sasnak" ( Kansas spelled backward). So after the internet came to be I utilized it early on

Handle is a nickname I've had since High School, reflecting a play on the mispronunciation of my last name... Juhnke

I'm a "young key"... not a "junkie!" Ok, not so young a key anymore, but who is?

Graduated KU in '90, moved to New York.

I'm 6'6" and used to have a buzz cut. Was wearing KU apparel at some pickup bball games and some guy started calling me "Ostertag". Since I'm NOT actually Greg Ostertag.......

Well...mine's not as interesting as some but here it is.

I married into a family with a paternal given name of Jay...my name is Jay and to avoid confusion at family get togethers I was called Jay T...guess it could have been worse...anyway with me be born in Lawerence and growing up to be a Jayhawk...I just added hawk to jayt...

I'm an online game player from time to time and go by jayishawkious also.
