Preston - Bosnia

I apologize in advance for bringing this issue up again, as I had planned never to think about this kid after what transpired. But, I inadvertently saw an article about his new Bosnian team.

They only have five regular season games left, including one today. It seems Preston hasn't even arrived yet, so he has maybe four games left, plus whatever playoff system they have.

I smell another rat here, and my opinion is the "decision" to go pro was their "out" from a situation that was going bad, and would look very bad for them and the kid. Get the NCAA investigation shut down, move on to an alleged pro career, and hope the facts just get buried, which is highly likely. I would bet that he never shows up or plays for the Bosnian team.

Well, AZ it sort of shoots a few holes in the ostensible rationale that this would give him what he sorely needs which is playing time to showcase him for the NBA draft. My thought was that if this was a nothing burger from the get go then everyone would have been gung ho to git er done. The fact that it dragged out did lend itself to the possibility (probability) it was something more than a nothing burger. Hard to point too many fingers since these things are pretty much always more complicated than they seem. I will leave it at wishing him well and filing him in the DeShawn Stevenson file (which is right adjacent to the Josh Selby and Cliff Alexander file). Incidentally it is in an entirely different filing system than the Svi Mykhailiuk, Devonte' Graham, Frank Mason, Travis Releford, Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, Tyshawn Taylor....well you get the point. Man am I thankful we have had two straight years of some wonderful senior leadership. That more than offsets the passing annoyance of these "none and dones". (I think I just coined a new phrase).

I just looked at the player roster for the team in Bosnia and he is now listed. Was surprised to see his age listed as 20. Had he played, as a frosh he would have been the same age as senior Svi. The website posts pretty good game stats so we can check if anything happens. First game would be Feb 2.
