“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
I couldn't find this anywhere else other than on FB.
Enjoy...

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

As a little girl, I remember listening to (I think it was WREN, AM 1250, Topeka) the KU games on the radio. Names I'll never forget:
White, Wesley, Lewis, Lochmann, Franz, Lopes, Bohnenstiehl (OK, I had to look up the spelling).....
I DO remember HE!!!

Didn't get to see Wilt or JoJo play here in person...but loved to listen on the radio too! Got to see Gayle Sayers in my first football game and later Douglas and the Riggins bros...and even got to take my then 8th grade daughter to watch Lynette Woodard's last game! RCJHKU
