“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
At around the 16:30 mark in the 2nd half, I said this to HawkErrant in a text:
"I'm actually proud of how they're fighting...this half, so far."
I then asked him to remind me of the halftime score. He said 41-28. We were still down by 12. My reply:
"Dang. Seems like we've outplayed them more than just +1"
I really felt we were bringing a completely different mojo and effort from the jump in the second half, notwithstanding the initial cold shooting. I was already at that point slowly beginning to transition (mentally) from "Ugh, let's just get out of here with some dignity" to "Hmmm, lotta time left, and something is happening."
And a bit later, it all came together. It wasn't quite the insane KU comeback at AFH last year, but on the road in Morgantown? It was close...

Yeah, Devonte's 3 reduced KU's largest deficit of the game (from 16 to 13). Then there's the fighting and extra intensity at the start of the second half that Konza mentioned. And then there was the final 28-11 run which happened after Carter scored at the 8:57 mark to put WVU back up by 12 prompting HCBS to call a TO. After that, Dok had a dunk followed by Graham's steal, layup and And-1. As Bilas commented, that sparked a major momentum shift.

So did we, Wheatie.
Another text exchange as we started to pare down the lead:
K: "It's you and me, man. Whether in person or on the mobile, we are the good karma against WVU!"
H: "Sure hope you’re right, brother!"
