Just took a look at Sagarin and noticed that our #35 SOS is 3rd best in the top 10 in their ranking. The only better SOS among the top 10 teams are North Carolina (ranked #7, #23 SOS) and Villanova (ranked #4 with #33 SOS).
Michigan State, who is #1 in Sagarin is 212 in SOS, and Cincinnati, who is #10 overall is ranked #320 in SOS (out of 351 total teams).
In regard to the Big 12, we have the 2nd best SOS with Texas (#28 in Sagarin, 6th in the Big 12) coming in at #14 SOS overall. Tonight's opponent, Tech, has a 323 SOS.
What's my point? I don't really have one other than to say Tech has a good record but hasn't played much of anybody yet. In fact, only 4 teams in the Big 12 have played schedules that put them in the top 50% of D-1 (KU, OU, UT and TCU). The other tidbit is that at the end of the season and the committee looks at who we've played, our strong SOS will only look stronger. Good scheduling by HCBS and staff.
