MG got last start over Malik and may continue to erode away his minutes. Their efficiency ratings are neck and neck and Marcus may prove to be more helpful bringing the ball up against pressure if Newman continues to play “small” (my opinion). Played quite a bit of zone against TX- a good shooting team could have made us abandon- effectively helping Doke but also keeping perimeter legs fresher for end of game.
Going forward I think we’ll get a ruling on SDS this week- possibly as early as Tuesday. I think he will be playing soon and getting significant minuets by the A&M game. I feel that his presence will open up a number of interesting rotations. If we don’t hear something on Preston this week then I think that he will be out for the year- ? On to NBA? IF BP is allowed to start playing in games along with SDS our 4-5 depth goes suddenly 4 quality players deep and we are suddenly 2 deep at the 3 guard positions- Svi, Sam, Marcus, LG, Malik and D’Te (not in any particular order). Would HCBS EVER use a 10 man rotation- usually not but this league is going to be a GRIND this year and the extra depth, or lack of, could make or break us!!
