Yeah, no sign of him tonight. In Self's doghouse for something? Hurt?

I agree. I am not sure why he did not see the floor.

Not sure Newman's defense is where it should be and, maybe not more than a lackluster approach offensively, but those two areas along with a defensive minded Garrett may have swung the switch.

From what I see it looks like HCBS sees Newman as his only other guy with enough point guard skills to run the show when Devonte is not on the floor.

It'll feel better when it stops hurting
the whole Hunter Mickleson thing. Kid could play but Bill wouldn't use him.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Fun was watching Mo Bamba. I'm glad we won, but I'm certainly going to tune into some Texas games this year to see that freak play. Granted some of his blocks were close to goaltending but he's insane to watch.
Glad we won, but we won't make 17 3's most nights. We really need DeSousa and Preston in the lineup.
Devonte is great. Svi is the epitome of hot and cold. Glad we saw some of the "hot" because he started the game looking "cold".
The biggest thing here, folks, is (at the risk of sounding like a broken record) it was a ROAD WIN. We all know how huge that is. Not only did Texas suffer an HOME LOSS, we're 25% to reaching our "quota" of at least 4 road wins. If HCBS is correct and 13 wins will win us the conference, that's 9 home wins and 4 road wins. Obviously there's still a lot of ball to be played, but road wins are huge in the Big 12, and the fact that we got one at Texas (a top 30 team according to Sagarin) means that we got one in Austin that some of the other top teams might NOT get. The fact that we got it done with a shallow front court is even better because that should change soon.
Hope Dok's back gets better soon. Fun win.
