Waiting on final NCAA clearance on his “amateur” status before he can play in games.

Hope to learn Billy Preston can finally stop going round in circles (practice-bench-classroom-practice-bench-classroom...) to make the holiday season complete!

Rock Chalk!!!

That he is returning to school/practice at least suggests that they have some hope that he gets on the court. I was bracing for the announcement that he was going to play in Europe.

This seems to have taken a long time to figure out where his mom got the money to get him a car. My understanding is that, unlike Cliff, BP and his family did not stonewall. The NCAA should have enough facts to make a decision of quality, at least equal to, they have been producing lately.

Maybe it is pessimism on my part, but it looks like getting De Sousa in time for conference became the backup plan as the BP ordeal drug on?

Everything I have read re: De Sousa coming to KU early is that it was his goal all along since KU had an open scholarship (remember William & Mary graduate transfer big Jack Whitman quit hoops back in July shortly after transferring in). SD let Self&Co know that when he committed on August 30 2017, and KU has been working to get him here at least since he signed his LOI on Nov 8, before the fall exhibition and non-con games began and we learned about BP's issues.

That would lead me to answer yes to your question, but that was not the original idea.

From the evidence -- KU & SD working toward SD getting here before the Preston issue came up, and Self's mantra that BP will play some undefined "sooner rather than later" this season -- it seems clear getting Silvio here was the plan from the moment he signed on.
