It is hard to make too much at this point of the season but then again, when we look back the strength of schedule of these 5 games may be greater than we think now. Clearly the stats are super favorable. The offense has been operating at a record pace. KU's offense has been very good the last couple seasons. But the 1.256 points per possession is outstanding. Also, KU has been playing a much more high paced game averaging 75 possessions per game. That is substantially higher than seasons gone by. Most exciting is the defensive points per possession. We are playing defense extremely well thus far. Again, better competition will likely see an change but wow, it is super encouraging so far. The PPP Delta (how much we outscore the opponent per possession, is simply crazy good.
Our PPP defense was very good against Kentucky. That gives me great encouragement. The offensive burst against Texas Southern is maybe the best game in a long time. In fact, the only game I have data on that was better was the Niagara game in January 1997, a game I remember well where we scored 1.634 points per possession.
