Very strange, given the timing. I suspect he realized quickly that his skills from a much lesser program didn't translate to playing time at a blueblood the level of KU. I hope this means Lightfoot has improved so much that Whitman determined he wouldn't get any court time unless there was injury.

At least we won't have two or three players who get relegated to the bench and cause distractions. with only 9 scholarship players, that fits Self's short rotation very nicely.

The other big question mark in the article is the definitive statement that Preston doesn't seem to like getting inside. I just hope he's better at floating on the perimeter than Bragg.

Self is pissed. He never trashes a player, but he came as close as I've ever seen. Paraphrasing Self's comments.

1. I was caught totally off guard. He didn't even stop in the office. He went home to KY and just called me.
2. Won't change the way we play unless we have injuries. We have a strong top 7, and he wasn't in that. Without injuries he wouldn't have been a key player.

Ouch. I guess the "home to Kentucky" comment says it all, right?
