Especially Frank. Did all he could, rest of the guys, especially DG and JJ, let the team down.

Also disappointed in HCBS coaching.

Of course, as Konza's already noted, hard to win when the shots aren't falling.
I will add that when the other team can't miss (Oregon in H1) and your shots aren't falling, it's a sign that the game is just not destined for you.

Congratulations to Oregon and Coach Altman.

I hope either they or Gonzaga win it all.

Frank was and is a lion. Josh and DG were horrible tonight. And when Oregon banked in the ridiculous 3 right before the half, I had a feeling it was their night.

KU: an elite historical program, yet only 3 stinking NCs. So often the bridesmaid, so rarely the bride...

Roy at least made the FF 4 times in his 15 years, although he never won it all.
Phog made it 3 times in the 18 years he had a chance.
Even Ted made it twice in his 19 years at the helm.

Have to wonder how things would have worked out for Larry (2 FFs in 5 years, 4 years with Danny) if he had stayed.

I'm profoundly bummed right now. Great season, and one which I enjoyed very much. I live in Phoenix and had a huge weekend planned for Final Four. Now, I don't want to go to any of it.

We were outplayed by a group of far superior athletes. It was so apparent that Svi, Graham, Lucas, Coleby, et al were overwhelmed by just better athletes. Bigger, stronger, faster. That's hard to beat. Those Ducks were so impressive. And remember that they won the Pac 10, over UCLA and Arizona. That's impressive.

We struggled in every single aspect just to get a shot off. And when we were wide open, we clanked.

And, their defensive scheme was superb. Leave Lucas open and pressure the guards. Dare us to throw it inside. Which we did, with ZERO success. We even went inside to Coleby, who has played maybe 30 minutes all season. I knew we were toast when we threw it into him.

The Ducks deserved the win, but my gosh I wish we had put up even a little competition. That was the worst game of the season.

I still really enjoyed the season, and for the first time really enjoyed our one and done player. Best of luck to Josh in his NBA career.

I'm going for a walk. I can't shake this horrible feeling.

Rock Chalk.

Let the debates begin on Self as head coach...

We choked. Pretty simple. We seem to do it every year. I honestly didn't expect it this year. Why? I have all kinds of theories, but it really doesn't matter. We had the talent to win it all, but like last year in the same situation, we choked. Unlike the absurd Marriott ad which asserts that it's where you start that matters, in college basketball it only matters where you finish. And we are not great finishers. I imagine after this dumpster fire of a game we'll be seeing Graham back and probably Svi. I imagine that Jackson is thinking about it right now, but of course he won't, because he is not crazy or stupid. But what a disappointment. At some point Bill Self has to do some serious soul searching to figure out why his teams almost always choke in these settings. It's one thing to lose to a better team, but we almost never do. And tonight we most certainly did not. Anyway, another crappy way to end the season. Goodnight.

Pretty much my sentiments Peter. Oregon was on their game and we weren't. This Jayhawk team seemed different than others in the past, they always played loose, knew how not to wilt in adversity and I really didn't think they would choke in the tournament but they did. It just isn't going to get any more ideal for getting to the Final Four. Playing in Kansas City in the Elite 8. Self is now 2-7 in Elite Eight games, 2-5 at KU. Not sure why his teams seem to fold at that level but that's been his history and the legacy continued tonight. He's a great coach until the Elite 8. Hoping some day his Elite 8 record will be better than .500. If so, we'll all be happy Jayhawks.

Couple of years ago someone floated a theory about our EE history. Basically we tend to tighten up for those games and that perhaps it was die to Coachs emotions. That these EE games are crucial for him and he tightens up and that subconsciously passes onto the players. Makes some sense when you look at tonight's team and Thursday's team.

RH - at this point, that theory has a lot of credibility.

The polar difference between Thursday and tonight is just hard to understand. Same thing happened in 2011 and 2016 after great sweet 16 games. Just don't understand it, so many missed changes for KU.

Generally I try to see Bill's face when they first come out but this evening I missed it. I am looking for that deer in the headlights look he gets. Husband said it was "kinda" there but he only recently started watching. I knew we were sunk unless the guys just said the hell with it and took the game over. Frank tried and came close .
I honestly didn't expect us to get this far with this group but hoped for more with Frank leading us. Perry was always so timid but not Frank. I knew without a true big man things would be tough but I was hopeful nonetheless

It'll feel better when it stops hurting

I think this year the huge win over Purdue was really a curse in disguise.

Yes, many thanks to all the players, coaches, and staff for a great season. If you are headed on from KU to new adventures, best of luck. Otherwise, see you next fall.
