Roy Williams - "It's amazing how much smoother things look when the shots go in. I felt our selection was good. We didn't rush anything. We didn't fire up the first three pointer against a set defense, had a good mixture of inside baskets and outside. Defensively I thought we were good. They tried to spread us a little bit, but for the most part we kept them where they had to shoot the ball over us. They did get more offensive rebounds than we'd like them to, but they also had more opportunities because their shooting percentage was down, and I'd like to think our defense had something to do with that.

"It was a good effort: we're pleased, we're satisfied, we're smiling... all those kind of things."

SC coach Cy Alexander - "Probably the worst thing that happened to us was them losing last Sunday (55-56 loss to ISU in the Big 8 tournament). If they play as well as they did today, they have a shot at the national championship.

"Haase got off to a great shooting start, and that basically took us out of our game plan. They shot the basketball very well, and we panicked a little bit.

"We were intimidated by their size. We were altering our shots and looking for fouls, and you don't get them at this level.

"I feel we're a better team than what we showed, and that's disappointing, but Kansas is the reason we didn't play better than we played. We came to win. We had a game plan we thought would be effective and... they destroyed it."
