Season summary

"They were short on players (only eight suited up). We were wearing them down at the end, and then they ran out of juice.

"I think if we can build on this win and get that positive feeling, it will be important to our future.

(On the low attendance) "We lose three in a row and people wonder what we're going to do for them. I told the team, 'Let's make our own enthusiasm. Don't worry about how it's not as loud out there as it usually is.'

"I actually yelled at our players today, and they could hear what I was saying. We're spoiled rotten. Our team's spoiled rotten. Our coaching staff is spoiled rotten, and our fans are spoiled rotten. And that stupid professor on campus that writes me, he's spoiled rotten and that's the nicest thing I'll ever say to him." (Williams received a negative letter from a professor of East Asian studies.)

"I love the people who where there.

"It's a little discouraging. Nebraska loses six of eight and has a two game losing streak. And they have a pep rally at 4:00 in the afternoon, and their crow'ds going absolutely crazy. I had a great time with the students today, but I had students apologize to me last night because there were not more students standing in line. I hate they have to think in those terms.

"I do find it discouraging we're spoiled so much that all of a sudden (with the three-game losing streak) Kansas basketball is going down the tubes. If that's the situation, I'll get the heck out of Dodge myself."
