Some wanted Monken (Army). Some are worried this is Turner Gill 2.0. I am very optimistic about this hire and look forward to what he can do with the program. RCJH!

FWIW, in ESPN's Coaching Carousel breakdown, #KUfbball hire of Lance Leipold received a better grade (A-) than recent hires by Tennessee, Auburn, Arizona, South Carolina & Illinois. Has to pan out for it to matter, but clearly a good start. National media seems impressed...

If any #kufball fans try to compare Leipold to Gill only because they were both at Buffalo, show them this (doesn’t even include LL’s time at WW) (Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he got his 6 DIII NCs - HE).

LEIPOLD as BFBC compared to GILL as BFBC

Leipold comes in at #46 on ESPN’s Top 100 CFB coaches of the past 50 years (actually 101, as they initially left one off and just added him to the list rather than bump anyone). And if he turns around “the ultimate challenge”, he will leapfrog quite a few folks on the next such list. ?If you don’t have ESPN+ right now… well, here’s the link anyway…

And then there is this from Pro Football Focus (a website that focuses on thorough analysis of the National Football League (NFL) and NCAA Division-I football in the United States).

Leipold is #9 among current coaches!
Sure hope he can deliver!
