7/23 - RecruitingNow had his bio saying one of the best QB/DB prospects in Kansas and quick enough to move to either position.
9/23 - Since Kyle broke his ankle, the interest from college recruiters seems to have dried up. Obviously this is a frustrating position for the young man. I still see the possiblity of him receiving a late offer from the local majors if their needs are met and feel his potential is worth a LOI. |

It was a good expericence at both of them. There's quite a few schools I'm looking at, but I'm maybe looking a little more at Colorado, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Iowa, and Kansas. 1/16 - Reports that Mario had verballed to Baylor earlier seem to have been wrong and now that Karas has chosen Baylor, KU might renew their interest in Mario and the chances are good despite growing up next door to Baylor.
1/23 - Mario is coming in today for Monday night's ESPN basketball game. He is a tremendous bb player as well and is seriously wanting to try both. William's is interested in return.
1/25 - MOKAN just broke the story on his commitment. He will play both football and basketball at Kansas. Mario was the 1998 3A Offensive POY and was 1st Tm All-District and District MVP in 1999. Jeremy Crabtree described him as a "Charlie Ward" type of player.
1/27 - Big 12 Blitz reported that Mario couldn't resist the chance to stay near home, play football with his cousin and play more basketball by going to Baylor. This gives them freshmen QBs.
1/31 - Mario reportedly decommited from Baylor last Friday. He is trying to make a decision now but a lot of pressure is coming from home, coach and community. MOKAN believes KU has a better than even chance but will be a battle.
2/1 - Well the battle is over and the smoke is clearing and Mario is ..... GOING TO KU!!! |

6/8 - RecruitingNow
7/30 - The NRA rates Kevin as the 21st QB in the country. His new short list has Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Illinois. He camped at Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, and Illinois and has an offer from each. He is no lock for Iowa.
8/20 - Pigskin Recruiting - Offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Northern Illininois. Camped at Notre Dame.
10/4 - Some BBS material on the HawkTalk site - Kevin is the best QB some recruiting follower in Iowa says he has ever seen (assuming in Iowa). "KL has a tremendous arm with a ton of velocity. He can throw a 35yd frozen rope!!! The three-sport standout also tells college coaches he is 6'4". The truth is he is 6'6". Why does he tell them he's 6'4"? Because he thinks they assume everyone exaggerates their height, which they do, and he just doesn't want to disappoint them! Wow!"
His college choices are down to Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas. And unfortunately he's leaning towards KU. The guy I know also says he has a great relationship with Terry Allen and would be shocked if he went anywhere BUT Kansas.
Great arm, good mechanics, runs quick-hit offense, very athletic; starter on state champ basketball team; runs 50.1 400m; projects at 6-5, 215. Big Time D-I
11/30 - It is not so clear who Kevin is leaning towards. Who ever has a good one. Kevin lead his team to the state championship in their class.
11/30 - Chris Pool of Pigskin Recruiting reports "I'm visiting Iowa on December 3rd, and Illinois on December 10th. I've already visited Kansas." Kevin led West to the Iowa State championship, defeating Cedar Falls in the UNI Dome on the campus of Northern Iowa University. "I had 100 yards rushing in the state championship and I scored the winning touchdown in overtime as well." Long said. Kevin told the Pigskin Recruiting Journal that he doesn't have a favorite among Iowa, Illinois, and Kansas.
12/5 - Had a good trip to Iowa. Several report that he is Kansas main QB target.
12/14 - Well, this is another red letter day for TA and staff's recruiting efforts. Word of Kevin's commitment keeps the prospects high for a quality class of recruits. |

Maybe this Tony will be the next? MOKAN report from their bbs has the following information: "Stubbs really liked his visit to Kansas on Dec. 17. The RB/DB from Florida said he still plans on visiting Louisville, Miami, and Florida Atlantic. He said KU is at the top of his list. He was thinking about committing, but wants to take another visit."
Bio from Rivals.com - Clocked a blazing 4.38 40-yard dash at a Palm Beach County Combine in February on turf. Played in just six games as a junior due to injury, but averaged 14 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns. Also plays free safety.
1/30 - Tony verballed to KU, according to the LJW, after switching from a commitment to Louisville. 3rd Team All-State, 2nd Team All-District, All-Conference. Listed among the top multi-purpose performers in Florida this year, Tony had heard from most of the big instate schools but the calls stopped. Already qualified, he carried the ball as a senior for 1,159 yards which went 5-5 in Florida's largest class. Stubbs was a third-team all-stater, a second-team all-district pick and a first-team all-conference selection after averaging 14 yards per carry his junior year in six games scoring 11 TDs. Described as explosive with lots of speed by his coach but self described as a runner preferring to "run over people". |

This stuff gets confusing." Tony already has offers from both Kansas and Kansas State, while he already went to see a Colorado State game in person earlier this year.
10/20 - MOKAN and the LJW both report Tony's commitment. MOKAN rates him the top OL prospect in the two state region. SuperPrep rated him the 35th player in the Midlands. His coach describes him as having quick feet and good football intelligence making all their line calls.
12/17/99 - This fast rising prospect (now No. 48 OL) has made his commitment firm and won't be visiting CSU! |

12/23 - Marlon Dale committed to Washington State in high school, but ended up at West Los Angeles College. "I passed my test but it was a few days too late so I decided to go to West LA," Dale said. "I spent one year there. I just went on a visit last weekend to Kansas and I committed. I liked the coaching staff and the town. I'm happy with my choice." Dale, 6-5, 275, offensive lineman was recruited by Oregon, South Carolina, Missouri, Marshall, and Nevada. He was a predictor out of high school and plans to sign with Kansas in February. -- by: Jon Kirby of MO-KAN Football
Other notes by MOKAN in feature story - "When we recruited Marlon in high school there was another offensive lineman on the same team who committed to Michigan," said West LA coach Robert Hager. "We thought Marlon was the better player. He's very athletic and has great feet. He just has that burst off the line." Dale is originally from Tulsa, OK and moved to the West Coast. He still has family in Tulsa and that played in his decision choosing Kansas. (Editor's note: Since he was a predictor out of HS, I believe this will mean he has 4 years to play 3.)
1/11 - MOKAN spoke to Marlon's mother and he is firm as a Jayhawk. Gilmore was his recruiter but he enjoyed KU and his visit.

7/9 - From RecruitingNow - Bill Kurelic of Bill Kurelic Recruiting reports that Offensive lineman Tom Higbee is drawing interest from some outstanding schools, but much is going to depend on how he does on his test which he will take in the fall. Higbee's list of schools currently contains Michigan, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, with no current favorite. His bio reads - "Most agressive offensive lineman that I have ever coached" said Champlin Park head coach Tim Hermann. Champlin Parks top prospect this year.
10/27 - Chris Pool of Pigskin Recruiting has this report: Tom is regarded by many as the best offensive lineman in Minnesota this year. Tom hasn't been able to play the first half of this season due to the breaking of a team rule last year, however his coach, Tim Hermann told the Pigskin Recruiting Journal that Higbee may be the best offensive lineman that he has ever coached. "I don't have any solid offers right now, but my coach (Tim Hermann) told me that he thinks Tennessee is going to offer me a scholarship. Minnesota is also calling a lot. "I'd say right now that my top five isn't set, but Virginia Tech and Oklahoma are near the top." Holloman and teammate DT John Culp are good friends and are being recruited as a package by all their top schools.

"We're all looking at Kansas pretty heavily," he said. "We're all going to make at least one more visit and then probably make our decision in the third week of December."

Columbus described his trip as "all gravy"! Whoop! He is big time. Maybe there is a DL at Blinn interested also. Oh, he already verballed! Thanks Demond.
1/11 - On the MOKAN bbs there was raised the possibility that Columbus was transfering to a Kansas junior college this spring to complete his academics. This has become more common for kids to avoid taking an "exit exam" required by Texas. Kind of like whether to get a Masters without a Thesis or not, whats to think about! Ha!
1/31 - MOKAN spoke at Big Blue Monday and reported that Columbus was at Ft. Scott.
1/31 - BIO - (6'2, 222, 4.58) 1st team NJCAA AA, 1st team all-conference. 62 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 tackles for loss. |

1/20 - MOKAN bbs.
1/23 - MOKAN broke this commitment over the weekend. This 1st team all-district selection is extremely athletic and could play at a variety of position. Coached described him as a very capable cover corner or a safety who likes to make the hit. A little bigger and he could be a speed linebacker.
1/23 - From Jon Kirby of MO-KAN Football - He can play anywhere, said Dickinson coach Gary Comer. With his speed and hips he could play cornerback, but he can also lay a hit on you and could play safety. If he gets bigger he’d be a speed linebacker. You just put him in a spot and he’ll play anywhere. He could even play receiver. When he walks on the campus at Kansas he will be one of the top five athletes there and I’m counting the basketball players. His best days are ahead of him. Bookman, 6-2, 205, runs the 100m in 10.3 and has a 40-inch vertical leap. He was a first team all-district selection. |

12/15 - MOKAN reports that KU is high on Jamarei's list. He visited last week and enjoyed himself. One more visit but talks like he expects to verbal with Kansas. Played safety as a fresh, but his natural position is cover corner. Good speed and very physical. KU is his slight leader.
12/15 - Excerpts from Rivals.com by Jeremy Crabtree - "I'm probably going to end up at Kansas but I still want to go and check out UNLV this weekend. I was at Kansas last weekend, and I loved it. It would be great to go there." He was clocked in the 100 meters at 10.59 seconds, and finished fourth in the nation coming out of Phoenix South Mountain High School. Expects to pick between the Rebels and Jayhawks by next Wednesday. 1999 Stats - 51 tackles, 3 interceptions and 11 breakups.
12/19 - Excerpts from MOKAN Football by Jon Kirby - "I called the Kansas coaches today and gave them a verbal commitment. I just felt Kansas was the best overall school for me. I liked the coaches and the city. I was impressed with their program." Bryant is a press cover cornerback and was chosen first team All-Arizona. This former Nebraska recruit in HS picked Kansas over UNLV, Utah, New Mexico State, and New Mexico. A May graduate, he moved from safety to corner this year. Played man coverage almost exclusively. All-conference and all-state this year.
2/2 - Jamarei was reportedly a Nebraska signee out of HS. |

12/13 - Supposedly had a good visit but will continue with visits.
1/01 - Looking forward to additional visits in January. Noted that it has been a while since his KU visit.
1/25 - MOKAN broke this story about Santana verballing today. Had an offer at one time from Tennessee. Felt KU's consistent interest warranted his commitment. There may be concern over his time in the 40 but something to remember is he was electronically timed twice in combines last summer and are probably the most honest times read on any recruiting pages on the web. Compared to the NFL combine times for college seniors, while not blazing, not that slow. Most NFL times failed to break 4.5. NU DBs, Mike and Ralph Brown, were timed at 4.65 and 4.6 respectively.

Signed Butler CC Over: Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, iowa State, Missouri
9/16 - Jeremy Crabtree of Rivals100.com reports that Free State coach Bob Lisher considers his star RB/LB a legitimate D1A prospect. "He's been playing on varsity since he was a sophomore, and he's already rushed for more than 300 yards and with an additional 100 yards receiving. He had 218 yards last week on the ground against a good Olathe South team." Jeremy feels that Jake projects as a strong safety or a linebacker in college. "But I'd give him a shot at running back," Lisher said. "He just makes plays." Recruiters are just getting in touch. "I've talked with coaches at Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma and Missouri about him," Lisher said. "Once they saw him on film, they all said they are going to recruit him."
10/21 - "I'd really like to stay in Kansas, so obviously Kansas and Kansas State are the top two schools I'm considering," Lawrence (Kan.) Free State athlete Jake Lawrence said. "I also like Oklahoma and Iowa State. I'm waiting to see who offers. Hopefully I'll get a couple of offers. I've been on unofficial visits to Kansas State and Kansas games." Lawrence has rushed for 1,070 yards and 18 touchdowns on just 98 carries as a senior running back. Lawrence had shown some previous interest in Mizzou but he says the Tigers are no longer calling. -- by: Bobby Burton of Rivals100.com

"Now I just need to bring my core up a bit and I'm good. The phone has always been ringing, but I think it will be more serious now." Could either play running back or defensive back. Last year he won the state 100m and has been clocked with a personal best of 10.19. He also won the 100m at the Junior Olympics in Cleveland, OH last summer. Visit set with Texas Tech (Jan. 21) and is getting consistent contact from Kansas, Purdue, Mississippi, and Houston. 3/6 -Jeremy Crabtree of Big 12 Blitz had this report on Chris. From the Big 12 Blitz site: "He's got an All-America leg," said Liberty, Mo., coach Dan Anderson about his kicker/punter Chris Tyrrell. "He won the longest punt competition at the Notre Dame camp, and then went to the Kansas camp and kicked a 65-yard field goal to win the longest field goal competition. He's got the best leg that I've ever seen." Tyrrell, who is 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, has kicked every kick out of the end zone so far this season and has connected on two 42-yard field goals. Sound too good to be true? f"A lot of people think I'm stretching the truth a little on Chris, but once they seen him on film or in person, they are believers," Anderson said. "In practice, he's punted the ball almost 75 yards and had a 4.9-second hang time. He's got to be one of the best around." Tyrrell also camped at Iowa and Michigan this summer. All four teams - Kansas, Iowa, Notre Dame and Michigan - plus Missouri have expressed legitimate interest in Tyrrell."
10/14 - Bobby Burton of Rivals100.com reports that Chris is really starting to get a lot of attention. "Indiana, K.U. and K-State have come by the high school. Missouri's kind of looking at me, too." Chris has connected on 7 FG (longest of 42 yards) and is averaging 4 yards per punt.
11/10 - Big 12 Blitz reports that KU made an offer.
11/14 - Decided over weekend according to MOKAN and Big12 Blitz. Proximity, rising program, and business school influenced his decision. Won punting contest at ND camp and kicking contest at the Ray Guy camp at Lawrence last summer. Averaging 43 yds/punt and connected on 9 of 13 FGs to date this year. |
